About Larry Murphy
Canadian hockey legend Larry Murphy joined the National Hockey League in 1980 following an impressive performance in the junior hockey league and World Junior Ice Hockey tournament in 1980. He was drafted into the league as a signee of the Los Angeles Kings.
He went on to feature in the league for over two decades in which he played for teams like the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won two Stanley Cups with both the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Detroit Red Wings.
Retirement
Murphy announced his retirement in 2001 and began working as a color commentator. His first work was with Fox Sports Detroit. He has also appeared on NHL Network's “NHL on the Fly”.
Family
He has been married to a lady called Nancy.
Recognitions
Murphy featured in three NHL All-Star Games. In 2004, he was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
