Lata Mangeshkar was a celebrated Indian playback singer, whose brilliant career spanned over half a century and during which she recorded songs for more than one thousand Hindi films, including 1972'sParichay, 1974's Kora Kagaz and 1991's Lekin... She is regarded as one of the greatest playback singers India has ever produced.
Family Life
She was the daughter of Hridaynath and noted musician Deenanath Mangeshkar. She was also the older sister of famous singers: Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle, Pt. Hridaynath and Usha Mangeshkar.
Achievements
In 1974, she was recognized by the Guinness World Records for being the most recorded singer in music history.
In 1989, the Government of India honored her with India's highest civilian honor, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Death
The life of this Indian music legend was taken due to Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome, which resulted from complications of COVID-19. The songstress was hospitalized for almost a month after testing positive for COVID-19.
