Laura Jane Grace is an entertainer who is recognized best for being the founder of Against Me!, the punk rock band. She is noted for playing the guitar and singing lead vocals for the band.
She is also the frontwoman of her solo band, Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers. She attracted attention in 2012 when she became the first openly transgender musician in the punk rock scene.
Her well-known songs include “I Was a Teenage Anarchist”, “Thrash Unreal” and “Stop!”
Family Life
She was born Thomas James Gabel to Bonnie Grace and US Army Major Thomas Gabel. She and her younger brother, Mark grew up at military bases in the United States, Germany and Italy.
She was married to Tiffany Kay from 2000 to 2004. Her 2007 marriage to Heather Hannoura ended in 2013.
Achievements
She received the Alternative Press Music Awards’ 2017 “Icon Award”.
