About Lauren Etame Mayer
Lauren Etame Mayer was a member of Arsenal’s invincible team that won the English Premier League in 2004. Mostly used as a right back, the Cameroonian soccer player won two league titles with the London-based team before leaving in 2007.
Usually referred to as Lauren, this highly-rated star featured for a number of Spanish teams like Mallorca, and Levante before rising to fame in England. In the same country, he starred for Portsmouth F.C. and helped them to win the FA Cup in 2008. He also played for Córdoba before announcing his retirement in 2010.
International career
Though he was eligible to play for Spain, Lauren opted to feature for Cameroon. He made his senior debut in 1997 but had his breakthrough three years later when he helped the U23 side and the Indomitable Lions to win gold at the Olympic Games and the African Cup of Nations, respectively. He won the African Cup again two years later.

Lauren has gained additional followers for his work as a broadcaster. He’s best known for his time with LaLiga TV where he featured on shows like “Viva LaLiga”. He has also appeared on some media outlets like BBC Sport, and Sky Sports.
The Cameroonian has also worked as an ambassador for his former team, Arsenal, in Africa. Aside from that, the soccer legend has linked up with FIFA to complete many projects.
Achievements
He was named in the African Nations Cup Player of the Tournament in 2000. Four years later, he was selected into the PFA Team of the Year.
