About Laverne Andrews
Laverne was an American musician who became well-known for being part of the Andrews Sisters; an American musical group of sisters. The group’s line-up consisted of herself and her siblings Patricia Marie and Maxene Anglyne. They participated in a talent contest at the Orpheum Theatre and won.
Career
Initially, they were imitating the Boswell Sisters who had gained recognition in the 1930’s. They started recording songs in 1937. Their “Bei Mir Du Schön” track put them out there and made them popular. By the 1940’s their records were all over the place and they had become a household name.
Marriage and last days
In 1948, LaVerne got married to Lou Rogers who played the trumpet for Vic Schoen’s band. In May 1967, LaVerne died of cancer.
