About Leo Fender
Leo Fender started making a name for himself in 1938 when, through his radio repair company, started renting and selling PA systems to some well-known musicians. During the Second World War, he teamed up with Clayton Orr Kauffman to build amplifiers and guitars.
After Kauffman left the company in 1946, Fender became the sole owner of the organization and named it Fender Electric Instrument Co. which was later known as the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Through the company, he built many musical instruments including the Fender Precision Bass, Fender Stratocaster and the Fender Telecaster.
He sold the company to CBS in 1965 and later founded the G&L Musical Instruments and the Music Man instrument company.
His full name was Clarence Leonidas Fender and he was born to Harriet Elvira Wood and Clarence Monte Fender. He was married to a lady called Esther who passed away in 1979 due to cancer.
After completing Fullerton Union High School, he enrolled at Fullerton Junior College.
