Léo Ferre was a prominent singer who came to the limelight in the mid-1940s. The French poet and composer was best known for his singles “Avec le temps”, “C’est extra” and “Jolie Mome”.
Personal life
He was born to Joseph Ferré and Marie Scotto and he was educated at the college of Bordighera.
The French singer married three times, his last marriage was with Marie-Christine Diaz and they were married in 1974. He had three children namely Mathieu, Manuella and Marie-Cecile Ferre.
Career Highlight
At an early age, he was part of the Monaco Cathedral choir; and from his participation with the choir, he got to know about polyphony. He grew up with a strong interest in music and began his career writing and composing songs.
Léo Ferré during his 45 years of making music, the musician released about 30 albums with his first album “Paris canaille” released in 1953. His other notable albums are “Les Fleurs du mal”, “La Chanson du mal-aime”, “Les Chansons d’Aragon”, “L’Espoir” and “Je te donne”.
He worked with record labels like the CBS, RCA, Barclay and Le Chant du Monde.

The French singer was known for his words “The only honor for an artist is not getting any”. He believed in his words, and thus, he did not participate in any honoring or award ceremony.
