Leon Trotsky (Lev Davidovich Bronshtein) was a Soviet politician.
His Highlights/Legacy
He is best known as the founder and first leader of the Red Army. He gained the title of People's Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs.
He joined the Bolsheviks before the 1917 October Revolution and he became a leader of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. The same year, he became one of the 7 members of the first Politburo, along with Lenin, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Stalin, Sokolnikov and Bubnov.
He was expelled from the Communist Party and exiled from the Soviet Union in 1929.
His Personal Life
He was married 2 times and he had 4 children. He was assassinated at the age of 60 in Mexico by Spanish-born Soviet agent Ramón Mercader.
