Leopold was an English icon in the music industry who worked with the orchestra as a conductor, especially in the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Personal Life
He was named Leopold Anthony Stokowski when he was born. His parents were Annie-Marion and Kopernik Joseph Boleslaw Stokowski. His father was a Cabinet maker from Poland. He is known to have given marriage a shot three different times. He started with Olga Samaroff in 1911 but ended it in 1923. He went on to marry Evangeline Love Brewster Johnson three years after his divorce. This marriage ended about eleven years later. His third wife was Gloria Vanderbilt but they divorced in 1955.
Career
He worked with top orchestras, especially the Philadelphia Orchestra. He worked at different times with the New York Philharmonic and NBC Symphony Orchestra.
Trivia
He usually said he was born in 1887 though it is believed that he was born five years prior. It was also weird to the people around him that even though he had been born in London, he did not have a British accent at all.
Death
He is believed to have died of a heart attack when he was ninety-five years old.
