He was an English television star who made a name for himself as a writer, actor, presenter and comedian.
Personal Life
Julia Nolan was his mother and Leslie Dawson Sr who was a bricklayer was his father. In 1960, he married a lady by name Margaret but she later died of cancer. In 1989, he again got married to a much younger lady by name Tracy.
Career
Early in his life, he worked in different departments. He worked as a journalist for some time and when he started writing poetry but he did not make it public due to fear of criticism. He had also mentioned in his autobiography that at a point in his life, he had worked as a pianist. Some of the books he had worked on were “The Blade and the Passion” and “Malady Lingers on and other Great Groaners”.
Death
Les had gone through a few death scares in his life. In 1985, he almost died when his prostate gland started failing. It got worse due to sepsis but he survived it. About three years later, he was admitted in the hospital for days after suffering a heart attack. In 1993 however, he suffered another heart attack but this time, he did not survive it.
