About Libbie Henrietta Hyman
Libbie Henrietta Hyman was an American zoologist who specialized in the study of invertebrate creatures. In 1919, with request from the University of Chicago Press, she issued a book entitled “A Laboratory Manual for Elementary Zoology”.
Following the success of the book, she published a textbook titled “A Laboratory Manual for Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy” in 1922 which is considered as one of the most used literature in the study of Zoology.

Her parents were Sabina Neumann and Joseph Hyman.
Education
In 1906, she started her education at the University of Chicago where she read zoology.
Recognitions
She was the recipient of the Daniel Giraud Elliot Medal in 1951. Nine years later, she was honored with the Linnean Medal. The highly-rated zoologist was also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Trivia
Between 1959 and 1963, she worked as the editor of a scientific journal known as Systematic Zoology.
She was encouraged by Professor Charles Manning Child to study zoology.
