German actress Lilli Palmer is known for her notable performances in movies like “Cloak and Dagger” in 1946, “The Counterfeit Traitor” in 1962, and “The House That Screamed” in 1969. She was born as Lilli Marie Peiser but took her surname “Palmer” from an actress she looked up to.

Her parents were Alfred Peiser, a German Jewish surgeon, and Rose Lissman, an Austrian Jewish stage actress. She was married to Carlos Thompson. With her divorced husband, Rex Harrison, she had a son.
Career
Palmer studied drama in Berlin, and at the age of 18, she made her first appearance in theaters. She acted in British films in the 1930s and later moved to major roles in Hollywood productions. She was noticed by a British talents scout during her performance in “Cabarets”. The first screen movie she appeared in was “Crime unlimited” in 1935. In that decade, she featured in movies like “Wolf’s Clothing”, “Good Morning, Boys”, “Command Performance”, and “A Girl Must Live”.
Other notable films that she was cast in include: “The House That Screamed”, “Hauser’s Memory”, and “High Society Limited”.
Achievements
She received a nomination from Golden Globe Awards for her performance in the film “But Not For Me”, which starred Carroll Baker and Clark Gable.
Her second Golden Globe Award nomination came in 1986, when she was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or TV Film".
For her performance in “The Four Poster”, she won the Volpi Cup.
For her contribution to the film industry, she received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
She received Der Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Award) for Best Actress two consecutive times – in 1956 and 1957.
