Linda Cohn grew up loving sports. Her parents noticed and introduced a 15-year-old Cohn to ice hockey. Although she played the game with boys, the future sportscaster held her own as a goaltender.
She graduated from the Newfield High school and enrolled in the University of SUNY Oswego, where she continued being a goalie for the women's hockey team. She graduated from the university in 1981 with a degree in communication.
Career
The Long Island-born made her debut as a sports anchor in 1981 for a Walk-AM radio station. She left the radio station and continued freelancing until she hit her big break in 1987, when she became the first full-time female sports anchor on the national radio network, ABC. She then moved to television and worked for Sports Channel America in 1988. In 1992, ESPN hired Cohn due to her passion and hard work at her previous place of work. She extended her contract in 2018;
Personal Life
Cohn tied the knot with Stew Kaufman in 1980, but the union ended in 2008. She later had a love affair with minor league hockey coach Matt Voity in 2010. The sportscaster has 2 children.
