About Louis Braille
Louis Braille did not allow his physical challenges to affect his academic performance. Though he wasn’t born blind, Braille became visually impaired at an early age which led him to design a tactile code system to aid him in reading and writing.
The system, which was inspired by the inventions of Charles Barbier, would later be known as ‘the braille’ and was unveiled in 1824. In music, this technique is referred to as Braille music.
Other businesses
Though he was widely known for his invention, Braille also worked as a teacher. He taught at the Royal Institute for Blind Youth. As an educator, he published many interesting books with some titled “New Method for Representing by Dots the Form of Letters” and “Method of Writing Words, Music, and Plain Songs...”
