About Louise Glück
Multiple award-winning American poet Louise Elisabeth Glück made her professional debut with “Firstborn”, a collection of poems in 1968. It was her second book of poem collections “House on Marshland”, which earned her prominence as a poet. Some of her famous poem collection books include “The Triumph of Achilles” and “Meadowlands”. For most of her poems, she is known to include elements of nature, myth and history while reflecting on personal experiences.
Family Life
The poet was born to Beatrice Grosby, a homemaker and Daniel Glück, an entrepreneur. Her younger sister, Tereze, who passed away in 2018, worked as a writer and banker.
Marriages
As of 2020, she has been married twice, both ending in divorces: the first was to Charles Hertz Jr. and the second was to author John Dranow, who later became her business (New England Culinary Institute) partner.
Achievements
She was named the 2020 ‘Nobel Literature Prize’ winner. Her other notable awards include the ‘Pulitzer Prize’, the ‘National Book Award’ and the ‘Bollingen Prize’.
