Lucas Neill is a former Australian soccer player who began his professional career in 1996 as a member of the Millwall team in England. Mostly used as a central defender, Neill played close to 15 years in England in which he featured for teams like West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, and Everton.
Before ending his playing career in 2014, Neill played for other notable clubs like Galatasaray, Sydney FC, and Al Jazira.
International career
The defender was first called up to the senior side of the Australian soccer team in 1996. Ten years later, he was appointed as the captain of the team and led them to a number of international competitions including the FIFA World Cup, and the AFC Asian Cup. He played 96 official games for his country, scoring only one goal.
Personal Life
He has a son called Marcus who has played for the youth teams of Blackburn Rovers, and Liverpool F.C.
Education
Neill studied at St Augustine's College, Brookvale. He also attended Wakehurst Public School.
Achievements
The Australian soccer legend was voted Millwall’s “Player of the Year” after the 1996/97 season.
