About Lucy Stone
Lucy Stone would be remembered for her numerous women’s rights campaigns. The American received lots of applauds for her role in abolishing slavery in the United States.
Stone was one of the prominent figures in the formation of the Women's National Loyal League, which fought for the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment. She was one of the people who initiated the National Women's Rights Convention and also supported the American Woman Suffrage Association.
In 1870, she co-founded the Woman's Journal, an American periodical which was aimed at promoting women's rights.
Family
She was one of the children of Francis Stone and Hannah Matthews, and was raised together with six siblings. She was married to American advocate Henry Browne Blackwell and together they had a child named Alice Stone Blackwell.
Education
Stone was an alumnus of Oberlin College.
Honors
She was posthumously selected into the famous National Women's Hall of Fame in 1986.
