Early Life
Luigi became acquainted with socialist ideas while studying economics at the University of Turin. In 1895, he was appointed professor at the University of Turin, the Polytechnic University of Turin and then the Bocconi University of Milan.
President of Italy
This Italian public officer held various positions such as Senator of the Kingdom of Italy, Governor of the Bank of Italy and Vice-Premier. Luigi became President of the Italian Republic in May 1948 and was credited for the creation of the post-war Italian social economy. After seven years in office, he was appointed Life Senator. He went back to writing and managing his winery.
Personal Life
This economist tied the knot with Ida Pellegrini in 1903 and they had three children Mario, Roberto and Giulio.
