He was a United States Representative from 1937 to 1949, a United States Senator from 1949 to 1961, the 37th Vice President of the United States from 1961 to 1963 and the 36th President of the United States from 1963 to 1969. He launched "The Great Society", a set of domestic programs, that addressed education, medical care, the arts and transportation. He peaked the Modern American liberalism with "The Great Society".
