About Mackinlay Kantor
Mackinlay Kantor was an award-winning writer, famously known for his novel titled “Andersonville” which was published in 1955. He started his literary works in the late 1920s when he wrote stories for a number of pulp fiction publications. Kantor went on to publish over 30 novels including “Lee and Grant at Appomattox” and “Spirit Lake”.

He was one of the children of John Martin Kantor and his wife Effie McKinlay. His sister was called Virginia. With his wife Florence Irene Layne, the writer fathered two kids including Tim Kantor who would follow in the footsteps of his father.

In 1956, he received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
