Known for his craft as a musician, Sam launched his music career in 1957 and that same year he released popular singles “All Your Love” and “Love Me with a Feeling”.
Personal life
He was born and raised in Grenada Country, Mississippi. He was born as Samuel Gene Maghett but he performed with the stage name Magic Sam.
Career Highlights
Beginning his career, he was signed to Cobra Records and he spent two years (1957 to 1959) with the record label. He recorded about 8 songs with the label, including songs such as “Everything Gonna Be Alright”, “Look Whatcha Done” and “All Night Long''.
In 1967, he released his first album titled “West Side Soul”. The album comprised tracks such as “I Need You So Bad”, “I Feel So Good” and “I Don’t Want No Woman”.
He released other albums such as “Black Magic”, (1968), “Give Me Time” (1991) and “Live at the Avant Garde” (2013).
Achievement
Magic Sam was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame.
Death
He met his untimely death after he suffered from a heart attack, aged 32.
