He is a renowned Chess Grandmaster who is noted to have held several world championships. He reached the top of FIDE (the FédérationInternationale des Échecs) world rankings for the very first time in 2010.
He defeated ViswanathanAnand in 2013 to become the World Chess Champion. One year later, he went head to head against Anand and still retained the title. He also won both World Blitz Championship and World Rapid Championship, making him the first player to have ever held those 3 titles simultaneously.

He lived and grew up with his family. His parents are SigrunØen and Henrik Albert Carlsen. He has three sisters.
Achievements
He ranked above 2800 at the age of 18 and went ahead to peak at number one on the FIDE world ranking at 19. This made him the youngest-ever at the time to achieve that feat.
At age 13, in 2002, he earned the Grandmaster title. As young as the age of 15, he won the Norwegian Chess Championship. Two years down the line, he jointly finished first in the "top group of Corus".
He won the World Chess Championship in 2013.
In 2014, he came out top at the World Rapid Championship.
Again in 2014, he won the World Blitz Championship.

The main reason why he got interested in Chess was because he wanted to beat his elder sister in the game.
