About Marc Shaiman
Marc Shaiman is a writer and composer for television series, theater plays, and films. He has been widely recognized for his collaborations with Scott Wittman who is also a lyricist and director. He is credited with the writing and co-writing of the song and lyrics of the film “Hairspray”. He first began his career as a stage musical director.
Shaiman was a musical director and co-producer for Bette Midler, an American singer, and songwriter. Some of the songs he directed and co-produced for her include “Mud Will Be Flung Tonight”, and “The Wind Beneath My Wings”.
He has composed and written several lyrics for numerous films and TV series including “City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold”, “South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut”, “Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special”, and “From the Earth to the Moon”.

His parents are William Robert Shaiman and Claire Goldfein. In 2016, he got married to Louis Mirabal.
