His Legacy
He was the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League and the Black Star Line. "Garveyism", a Pan-African philosophy and an aspect of Black Nationalism, was named after him. Many schools, roads and buildings have been named after him in Africa, Europe and the USA. He has stated about his ideas for Africa: "Our union must know no clime, boundary or nationality… to let us hold together under all climes and in every country".
