About Mark Farner
American musician and co-founder of Grand Funk Railroad rock band is known for being the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band.
Career
His musical career started in the late 1960’s when he played in Terry Knight and The Pack. Prior to forming the Grand Funk Railroad in 1969, he had played for the Bossmen between 1966 and 1967.
At Grand Funk Railroad, he released several albums such as “Closer to Home”, “Survival”, and “Born to Die”. He also wrote the song “Bad Time” which made it to number 4 on Billboard Hot 100.
When Grand Funk first disbanded in 1976, the musician launched his first album titled “Mark Farner” the following year. He went on to release a second “No Frills” the next year.
Together with Don Brewer, Farner recorded two albums “Grand Funk Lives” and “What”s Funk”. The album featured bassist Dennis Bellinger.
Achievements
He was elected into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame as a solo composer in 2015.
