Mark McGwire is a former American professional baseball player whose successful career as a player in Major League Baseball (MLB) lasted from 1986 to 2001, during which he played for the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. He began a career as coach in 2010.
Personal Life
His first marriage was in 1984 to Kathleen Hughes, with whom he fathered a son. He got married to his second wife Stephanie Slemer in 2002. Stephanie bore him several children, including triplets.
Achievements
Some of his notable accomplishments include winning the AL Rookie of the Year Award in 1987 and the Gold Glove Award in 1990. He also helped the Athletics win the 1989 World Series.
Trivia
In 2010, he confessed to using steroids during his career as a player.
