About Mark Messier
Regarded as one of ice hockey’s all-time greatest players, Mark Messier spent 25 years of his youth playing professional hockey in the National Hockey League (NHL). He had previously played for the Cincinnati Stingers and Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association (WHA) league.
In the NHL, he played in the centre position for the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, retiring in 2004.
Family Life
His father, Doug Messier is a retired ice hockey player. His mother’s name is Mary-Jean. He was raised along with his brother Paul, who also played professional ice hockey, and two sisters.
He has been married to a woman called Kim. He has two sons and a daughter.
Achievements
He was the winner of six Stanley Cups from 1984 to 1994. He also won one Conn Smythe Trophy, two Hart Memorial Trophies and two Lester B. Pearson Awards. He is a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee.
Trivia
He has been the owner of a Bahamas-based hotel known as Runaway Hill Club.
