About Mark Richt
Mark Allan Richt is a retired American football coach and a television football analyst. He also was a football player himself, having had a successful career as a quarterback with the University of Miami’s The Miami Hurricanes football team between 1978 and 1982.
Between 1985 and 2000, he worked in assistant coach capacities at the Florida State University and the East Carolina University.
Richt served as the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs (representing the University of Georgia) for 15 seasons (2000 to 2015) and returned to his alma mater, the University of Miami, as head coach after the former dismissed him. He retired in late 2018 and began a career in football analysis on television.
Family Life
His parents’ names are Helen and Lou Richt. He has four siblings. He married Katharyn Francis, a former cheerleader at the Florida State University. They have two biological sons; Jonathan and David, and two adopted children; Zach and Anya.
Achievements
He won the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year awards in 2002 and 2005. He also received the Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year award in 2017.
