About Mark Robson
Mark Robson was a Canadian-American film producer, editor, and two-time Academy Award contender for best director. He is best known for helming the box office hits "Champion" (1949) and "The Harder They Fall" (1956).
Early Career
He was an alumnus of Pacific Coast University School of Law and the University of California, Los Angeles. He started out at the Twentieth Century-Fox property division. At some point, he started working at RKO Pictures, learning how to edit movies.
“The Falcon's Brother” (1942) served as his first solo editing project. Next came the wildly popular horror movie "Cat People" (1942), which starred Simone Simon and Kent Smith.
His first films as a director were "The Seventh Victim" (1943) and "Bedlam" (1946). In the latter, he also served as the screenwriter. The film starred Anna Lee and Boris Karloff.
In the years that followed, he produced "Home of the Brave,"(1949) and "Earthquake" (1974).
Death
He died from a heart attack while working on the post-production of his final motion picture "Avalanche Express" (1979).
