Martellus Bennett, in full Martellus Demond Bennett, is a well-known retired American footballer. He played in the position of a tight end for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL), spanning between 2008 and 2017.
Early Life & High School
He was born and bred in Houston, Texas. He attended Houston’s Alief Taylor High School, where he was the star in the basketball and football teams. The player starred in the 2005 “U.S. Army All-American Bowl.”
College Career
He played football and basketball in his freshman and sophomore seasons at Texas A&M University. However, he eventually chose to play only football in his junior season. The decision led to an impressive junior season as he recorded 49 catches for 587 yards and four touchdowns. After this season, he declared for the 2008 NFL draft and decided to skip his final year.
NFL Career
He played for five NFL teams during his career, thus, Dallas Cowboys (2008–2011), New York Giants (2012), Chicago Bears (2013–2015), New England Patriots (2016 & 2017), and Green Bay Packers (2017).
However, he is mainly remembered for his spells with the Chicago Bears, which saw him earn “Pro Bowl” honors, and with the New England Patriots, where he was part of their Super Bowl-winning squad in “Super Bowl LI.”
