About Martin Biron
Martin Biron is a former pro ice hockey goaltender. He spent more than a decade and a half in the National Hockey League mostly with the Buffalo Sabres. Other teams that he played for are Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and the New York Rangers.
Ice Hockey Career
Biron took up hockey as a young boy, playing for the minor and junior hockey leagues in Quebec, Canada. In 1995, he made his NHL debut for the Sabres and became the fourth-youngest goaltender to start a match.
In 2007, Biron was traded to the Flyers where he appeared in 60 games and recorded 30 wins. He played for both the Islanders and Rangers before retiring in 2012. He became the director of goaltending at the Academy of Hockey.
Awards and Recognition
Biron was inducted into the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame in 2018.
He won several awards during his career, including the Canadian Major Junior Goaltender of the Year.
