The biathlete has two daughters with his partner Hélène. His big brother Simon was a biathlete as well.
Career
Raised in a French coastal town and inspired by his big brother, Martin Fourcade pursued a career as a biathlete in 2002. His first international competition was in 2006. He started out in the Youth World Championships in 2007.
The French athlete competed in his first biathlon at the age of 10. A decade later he had dominated the game, winning back-to-back year-on-year; breaking records and setting new ones.
A biathlon consists of four major parts – Individual, Sprint, Pursuit and Mass Start. Martin has won all four sections of the biathlon on more than three occasions.
Achievements
As of 2021, the outstanding sportsman has won 7 Olympic medals [5 gold medals and 2 silver medals]; and 28 world championship medals [13 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze].
Trivia
The seven-time biathlon world champion is also a second lieutenant in the French Army.
