About Marty Schottenheimer
Martin Edward Schottenheimer first played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Boston Patriots from 1965 to 1970 before starting his coaching career in the league five years later.
Between 1975 and 1984, he occupied the linebacker and defensive coordinator coaching positions of three NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns, which he would go on to serve as head coach from 1984 to 1988.
His longest head coach reign was with the Kansas City Chiefs (1989-1998). He also coached the San Diego Chargers for five years and Washington Redskins in 2001.
Family Life
He was raised in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He married a woman named Pat in 1968. They were parents to two children, including NFL coach, Brian.
Achievements
He is a Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer. He was named “Coach of the Year” by the AFC in 1986 and 2004, the NFL in 2004 and the UFL in 2011.
Death
He died on 8 February 2021.
