About Marvin Mitchelson
American lawyer Marvin Mitchelson was called to the bar in 1957 and started practicing in the city of Los Angeles. He began making a name for himself in 1963 when he won the “Douglas v. California” legal case at the United States Supreme Court.
He was perhaps known for being the lawyer for actress and singer Michelle Triola during the “Marvin v. Marvin” case in 1976 which was heard at the Supreme Court. In the suit, the singer pleaded for financial compensation from Lee Marvin whom she had lived with as partners between 1964 and 1970. It was during this hearing that he came up with the term “Palimony”.
Legal challenges
After he was found guilty of tax fraud, Mitchelson was given a 30-month jail sentence which began in April 1993. Later that year, he was suspended from the bar. He was again charged with tax fraud and sentenced to two years imprisonment in 1996.

He was the husband of Marcella Ferri, an actress.
Education
He completed his education at the University of California, Los Angeles before joining the Southwestern University School of Law.
Death
Mitchelson died from cancer.
