About Mary Hart
Mary Hart came into the limelight in 1970 when she was crowned the winner of the Miss South Dakota beauty pageant. Her popularity increased the following year after she reached the semi-final stage of the Miss America contest.
After garnering some amount of fame, Hart shifted her focus to television and made her debut in 1975 with KGAN (then known as WMT-TV). In 1982, she was named as the host of CBS’ “Entertainment Tonight” and appeared on the show until 2011, becoming the longest-serving host of the show.
Private Life
At birth, she was christened Mary Johanna Harum. Her 1972 marriage to Terry Hart ended in 1979. A decade later, she became the wife of television producer Burt Sugarman. They have a child called Alec.
Education
She enrolled at Augustana College after completing Augustana Academy.
Awards
Hart was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989.
