About Mary II of England
Mary II of England became the Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1689 following the deposition of her father, King James II & VII in the 1688 Glorious Revolution. The latter had been deposed because he had tried to implement rule by decree. Mary co-ruled with her husband, William of Orange, who became William III & II. Although she sought his counsel as a co-ruler, she was also known for making her own decisions whenever he went abroad on military engagements. She reigned until her death.

Her mother, Anne Hyde died when she was nine years old. She was the elder sister of Anne, who later became Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, and the niece of the childless King Charles II. The wedding ceremony for her and William of Orange (who was her cousin) was held in November 1677.
Death
She died on December 28, 1694 after suffering from small pox. She was 32 years old.
