Massimiliano Allegri is a well-known Italian soccer coach who also played the game during his youthful age.
As a coach, he worked for different soccer teams including Cagliari, AC Milan, and Juventus. During his time at Juventus, he won the Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana trophies. He also led the club to two Champions League finals. However, he left the club in 2019.
During his playing career, Allegri played for Pescara, Cagliari, and Napoli. Though he was known to be versatile, he mostly operated as a midfielder. In 2003 he announced that he’s retired from professional soccer.
Achievements
He’s won the Serie A’s coach of the year on four occasions (2011, 2015, 2016, and 2018). In 2018, his name was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame.
Trivia
He was given a year ban by the Italian Football Federation in 2001 for an alleged match-fixing scandal.
