Matt Reeves, an American filmmaker, is known for his role in the WB drama series “Felicity” during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His other works include films such as “The Yards”, “The Batman” and television series “Conviction”, “The Passage” and “Tales from the Loop”.

He married Melinda Wang and they bore a son.
Education
He is an alumnus of the University of Southern California where he studied screenwriting under Jeph Loeb.
Young Career
Reeves began his career at a very young age with his childhood friend J.J Abram, who later became a filmmaker. During their teenage years, film producer Steven Spielberg recruited them to transfer some of his motion picture films to videotape.
Between 1991 and 1992, he produced an awarding–winning student film titled “Mr. Petrified Forest”. He also co-scripted “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory” and “Cloverfield” upon graduating from school and became the director of the latter in 2008.
Film Directing
The first film he directed was “Future Shock”, a horror film that he wrote in 1994. He was also the director and co-writer of the 1996 romantic comedy film “The Pallbearer”. The film starred David Schwimmer, Toni Collette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Vartan, and Michael Rapaport. The film was featured in the Un Certain Regard segment at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival.
Reeves was credited for being the co-creator of the WB drama series “Felicity” together with J.J Abrams. The series ran from 1998 – 2002 and had 84 episodes. He was the director of several of the episodes including the pilot. The series starred actors such as Keri Russell, Amy Jo Johnson, Scot Foley, and Ian Gomez. It was narrated by Keri Russell and American comedian and actress Janeane Garofalo.
He was also the director of many episodes of television series including “Gideon’s Crossing”, “Miracles”, “Relativity”, “Away” and others.
The director garnered success and international acclaim for his work “Cloverfield”, a 2008 sci-fi monster movie. The film was written by Drew Goddard and starred Michael Stahl-David, Odette Yustman, T.J Miller, and Mike Vogel.
Reeves later became the Executive producer for the films “10 Cloverfield Lane” in 2016 and “The Cloverfield Paradox” in 2018.
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”
He also directed the American sci-fi film “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” in 2014 which was a continuing part of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”. It was written by Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. It starred actors such as Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russell among others.
Awards and nominations
He won the “Filmmakers Showcase Award” at the 2008 Saturn Awards. It was for his work “Cloverfield”. He also took home the “Best Screenplay” for “Let Me In” at the 2010 Fright Meter Awards.
Matt Reeves received several nominations including “Best Director” and “Best Writing” for “Let Me In” at the 2011 Saturn Awards.
He was nominated for “Best Director” at the 2018 Saturn Awards for “War for the Planet of the Apes”.
