About Matthias Corvinus
In 1458, at the age of 14 years, Matthias Corvinus was enthroned as the King of Croatia and Hungary. He took over from Ladislaus V. He built a strong military and economy during his tenure, which lasted for over three decades. Matthias also made some changes to the structure of the judicial service.
In 1469, he was named as the King of Bohemia. A lover of arts, he supported many talented individuals and helped to establish the Bibliotheca Corviniana, a famous royal library.
Family
He was one of the children of Elizabeth Szilágyi and her husband John Hunyadi. He was raised alongside a brother named Ladislaus Hunyadi. He was married to Catherine of Poděbrady, and Elizabeth of Celje before tying the knot with Beatrice of Naples. The king had an illegitimate son named John Corvinus.
Death
It was believed that he died from a stroke.
