About Maurice Gibb
Maurice Ernest Gibb achieved international recognition as one of the members of the British music group, Bee Gees. The group originally started in England in 1955 as the Rattlesnakes with five members, two of whom were Gibb’s brothers, Robin and Barry.
When the family relocated to Australia, the three brothers formed Bee Gees. He was mostly an instrumentalist for the group but on few songs such as “Country Woman”, “Lay It on Me” and “On Time”, he performed lead vocals. He began a solo career in the 1970s.
Family Life
He was one of four sons born to Barbara and drummer Hugh Gibb. His youngest brother, Andy, was a successful solo musician. He also had a sister called Lesley.
He was married to Scottish singer Lulu from 1969 to 1973. His 1975 marriage to Yvonne Spenceley produced two children.
Achievements
As a member of Bee Gees, he was appointed to the Order of the British Empire and is an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Death
He died on 12 January 2003 from twisted intestine situation.
