About Max Planck
Max Planck was a celebrated German physicist who became known internationally as the originator of quantum theory. He advanced Physics in no small way with his work on quantum theory, and for that he was honored with the highly prestigious Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918. He is considered one of the greatest physicists of the latter part of the 19th century and the early parts of the 20th century.
Awards
Besides his 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics, he also received other prestigious awards such as the Lorentz Medal in 1927, the Copley Medal in 1929 and the Goethe Prize in 1945.
Trivia
His fourth child Erwin Planck was sentenced to death and executed by the Nazi regime in 1945 after he unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
