Maxwell Cabelino Andrade, often referred to as Maxwell, is one of the successful soccer players of all-time. His journey to stardom began in the 1990s when he joined the youth setup of Brazilian side, Cruzeiro as a left-back. He was later promoted to the senior team due to his talent and performances.
Career highlights
In 2001, he joined AFC Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie. After five years with the team, he joined Internazionale in Italy but was sent on loan to Empoli due to some registration issues. He returned to the club in 2006 and quickly established himself as one of the key figures in the squad.
Maxwell joined FC Barcelona in 2009 in a deal with over €4 million. He helped the team to win lots of laurels before moving to Paris Saint-Germain three years later.
International Career
His eye-catching performances in Europe earned him a spot in the Brazilian senior national soccer team in 2013. He made his debut that same year in a friendly match against Switzerland. He was part of the Brazilian team that placed 4th at the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
Achievements
With FC Barcelona, he won two La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy. He also won three Serie A titles with Internazionale, and four Ligue 1 trophies with Paris Saint-Germain.
