In the early 20th century, May Allison dominated the Hollywood silent film era after making her 1915 debut in “A Fool There Was”.
Early Career
The Georgia native first appeared in 1914 in the Broadway stage production of “Apartment 12-K” before deciding to move to Hollywood. The following year, she starred in her first motion picture.
Hollywood Years
Allison met her co-star, Harold Lockwood while working on “David Harum”. The pair garnered more fame during World War I due to their on-screen chemistry. Sadly, their partnership came to an end after Lockwood died from the Spanish flu.
Though she continued to act throughout the 1920s, her popularity started fading. Allison’s last film was “Telephone Girl”.
Personal Life
She married four times, her previous marriages were to Colonel William Stephenson, Robert Ellis, James Quirk and finally to Carl Norton Osborne. She passed away in 1989.
