About Meade Roberts
American screenwriter Meade Roberts is credited with working on movies such as "The Fugitive Kind" in 1960 and "Summer and Smoke" in 1961. Both works were based on works by American playwright Tennessee Williams. The latter, which was directed by Peter Glenville, starred Laurence Harvey, Rita Moreno, and Geraldine Page.
Career
Roberts had an extensive career in film from the 1930s to the 1990s. He wrote numerous screenplays, including that for "The Stripper", a 1963 film which starred Joanne Woodward. He also played the part in the 1976 American neo-noir crime film "The Killing of a Chinese Bookie" which was directed by John Cassavetes. He later appeared in "Opening Night" as Eddie Stein in 1977 and also played a part in Paul Morrissey's "Forty Deuce" in 1982. In that film, he starred alongside Orson Bean, Kevin Bacon, and Mark Keyloun.
Death
The screenwriter and actor died of a heart attack in 1992. He was 61 years old.
