About Meher Baba
Meher Baba is an Indian spiritual leader who described himself as the Avatar during the 20th Century. With large followers across the globe, Baba’s mostly emphasized on the need to spread peace and oneness of the Supreme Being.
He underwent spiritual changes when he was 19 years old which lasted for seven years. During that period, he consulted and studied with some renowned spiritual figures like Tajuddin Baba, Upasni Maharaj, and Hazrat Babajan.
Baba began assembling his followers in 1922 which led to the construction of the House of the Master (famously known as Manzil-e-Meem) in modern-day Mumbai. He also embarked on a silent life for 44 years starting from 1925.
Six years later, he made his first visit to the West, and within a decade he had traveled to many cities in Europe and the United States.
Family
His original name was Merwan Sheriar Irani. He was raised by his parents Sheriar and Shireen Irani.
Facts
In 1955, he published his first book titled “God Speaks: The Theme of Creation and Its Purpose”.
During his years of silence, he communicated with hand gestures and an alphabet board.
