About Michael Moorcock
Michael Moorcock is an author and editor from England. He also doubles as a musician. He has been widely recognized for contributing immensely to the science fiction and fantasy genre of literature. Moorcock started writing in his teens. When he was 17 years of age, he was hired as the editor of the “Tarzan Adventures”. He wrote his first fiction novel titled “The Golden Barge”. In 1959, at the age of 19, he was employed at the Sexton Blake Library.
As an editor, Moorcock worked with the New Worlds, a science fiction magazine, for 27 years. His works include “Wizardry and Wild Romance: a study of epic fantasy” in 1987, “The War Hound and the World's Pain” in 1981, “The Dancers at the End of Time” in and 1972,.
Family
He has married three times. First to Hilary Bailey in 1962 but divorced her in 1978. He later wedded Jill Riches but also divorced her. Then to Linda Steele, his third wife in 1983. His three children are Kate Moorcock-Abley, Sophie Moorcock, and Max Moorcock.
Awards
In 1993, he was the recipient of the British Fantasy Award (Committee Award). He also won the World Fantasy Award for “Life Achievement” in 2000. Also, Moorcock was the recipient of the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award for “literary fantasy and science fiction” in 2008.
Additionally, he has received other individual awards for particular works such as the Nebula Award (Novella) for his book “Behold the Man” in 1967, the August Derleth Fantasy Award for “The Knight of the Swords” in 1972 and 1973, the British Fantasy Award (Best Short Story) for “The Jade Man's Eyes” in 1974, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel for “Gloriana” in 1979.
