About Michel Piccoli
Michel Piccoli was a French actor and filmographer who, in terms of acting, is considered as one of the greatest French professionals of the entire 20th century. As such even outside of his homeland he has made a name for himself as an acting legend, winning a number of prestigious international awards in the process. Moreover, the diversity of the characters he was able to effectively portray is staggering.
Piccoli specialized in character acting and in that regard, could portray just about anyone. For instance, it has been noted that he has played the role of law enforcement, criminals, scholars, King Louis XVI, French academic Marquis de Sade, clergy and even the Pope himself.
He also produced, directed and wrote a few films.

At the time of his passing he was married to his third wife, Ludivine Clerc, whom he had been wedded to since 1980.

Throughout his career he was nominated for four Cesar Awards.
In 1980, he took home the Best Actor Award via the Cannes Film Festival.
In 1982, at the Berlin International Film Festival, he was given a distinction called the Silver Bear for Best Actor.
Piccoli won a German Film Award in 1988 and another in 1992.
He was given the Europe Theatre Prize by the European Commission in 2001.
His film acting career began in 1945 and ended in 2015, thus making it span a good 70 years.
Death
He ultimately passed away, in May 2020, as the result of suffering from a stroke.
