About Mike Bloomfield
Mike Bloomfield was a household name during the 1960s. Regarded as one of the top guitarists of his era, the American musician rose to fame as a member of The Butterfield Band. He helped them to record their eponymous maiden album in 1965.
Two years later, he created his own group known as The Electric Flag. The band, which also had members like Barry Goldberg and Harvey Brooks, released their first album in 1968 entitled “A Long Time Comin'”.
Solo career
Admired for his special guitar techniques, Bloomfield completed many projects as a solo artiste. He established his name in the music industry with his 1969 album titled “It's Not Killing Me”. He went on to release other albums with some titled “Count Talent and the Originals” and “Analine”.
Family and Education
His grandfather Samuel Bloomfield was the founder of Bloomfield Industries which was a very successful brand during the 1930s. The musician was born to Dorothy Klein and Harold Bloomfield.
Mike couldn’t graduate from New Trier High School.
Recognitions
In 2015, with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, he became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Three years before that, his name was included in the Blues Hall of Fame.
Trivia
He was featured on Bob Dylan’s 1965 single titled "Like a Rolling Stone.
Aside from that, he worked with other popular musicians like Al Kooper and Nick Gravenites.
