Mike Cameron has certainly made a name for himself in professional baseball. The former outfielder was the 20th member of the ultra-exclusive 250/250 club, with 250 home runs and 250 stolen bases throughout his career.
Early Years
He was born in La Grange, Georgia and attended LaGrange High School. Due to bad grades, he wasn’t allowed to play baseball and as a result received less attention from scouts.
Baseball Career
Cameron was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1991 right out of high school. He made his professional debut in 1995 and two years later became the regular center fielder for the team. Over his 16-year career, he also featured for the Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, and the Florida Marlins, after which he retired.
Achievements
He won the following awards in his career: 2001 All-Star and the Golden Glove Award (2001, 2001, and 2006). He also co-wrote a children’s book “It Takes a Team: Mike Cameron”, which was published in 2002.
