About Mikhail Baryshnikov
Mikhail Baryshnikov is a talented Russian-American choreographer, actor and a dancer. He began his profession at a young age and he is known for his links to the Kirov Ballet group. He later joined the American Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet.
As an actor, he has been used in loads of notable movies such as “White Nights”, and “The Turning Point”. He has also been starred in lots of stage plays such as “In Paris”, and “Man in a Case”.
Family
He’s the son of Nikolay and Alexandra Baryshnikov. In 2006, he tied the knot with Lisa Rinehart and the couple have been blessed with 4 kids which include actresses Anna and Shura Baryshnikov.
Achievements
In 1966, Baryshnikov won gold at the junior division of the Varna International Ballet Competition. Three years later, he won the ultimate prize at the Moscow International Ballet Competition. His other awards include National Arts Award, and Jerome Robbins Prize.
In 2013, he was honored with the ‘Prix Benois de la Danse’.
